Johanna Jones will be leading the open discussion on Tuesday November 10 at the Morgan Arts Centre. The topic is “What do we want Toledo to look like in the next 5 years?” Potluck at 5 pm, discussion about ideas beginning at around 6 pm. Anyone and everyone with ideas is invited to join in to help plan our future.
Things happening at the library: Nov 7th Magic Show at 4 PM. Nov 17th Tues author Beth Peterson will lead a book discussion and do a book signing. Nov 18th Wed at 7 PM Chuck and Sally Caley will present their 1000 mile bike ride through 5 countries in Europe.
The Toledo Historical Society has new donations that are beginning to stress the small space of the History Room at the Library. We maybe looking for a new place. Also, the group has sold nearly 100 classic car calendars as a fund raiser.
Things are looking good for the Veterans Parade on Saturday Nov 7th. Besides several military vehicles the parade will have a professional bag piper. And this year there will be 3 Grand Marshals. All three are WWII veterans: Charles Beardsley, Kenny McEwen, and Andy Wilson.

Toledo Lions Club is providing the Health Screening Unit at the grade school on Friday, Nov. 6 to give free eye and ear exams for kids. Also, Turkey Bingo is scheduled for Nov. 20 at the high school starting at 6 pm.
vision:TOLEDO will once again have the Holiday Lights Contest and Tour (Decorate your house with lights for the Holidays and win fabulous prizes.) And the Light Tour on will happen on Monday, Dec. 21. There are some new ideas to expand this event. So come to the Planning Meeting on Nov. 10 at the M.A.C.

Toledo School District is sponsoring a patron tour of school campuses for local organizations. These tours are part of Focus on Education month in Washington State. We invite members of vision:Toledo to join us on Mon. Nov. 16 from 1 – 2:30 pm. A bus will pick up participants at the Toledo Senior Center and return there following a tour of all 3 schools. Toledo students entered the Lexus Eco Challenge for a chance at winning scholarship money. Eight teams, of 5-8 students each, created a PowerPoint presentation to highlight what their team did to address the biodiversity and/or erosion on the Toledo Trail. Qualifying teams will have an opportunity to refine their work for a chance at $30K to be divided among team member and a small grant towards TMS science. Middle school students will begin their trail environmental investigations in November. Students will expand upon what have learned from last year to have a greater impact on increasing plant species diversity and erosion control by specifically targeting an environmental factor and investigating the effect of the factor on living organisms.
